Can the Installation Helper be used to hang tongue and groove on ceilings?
Yes, that was the motivation and drive for designing this tool. The designer of the tool, a retired contractor has had multiple shoulder surgeries and has limited shoulder mobility. While constructing a two-story barn solo for his wife, he transformed jigs passed down by his father, who was also a contractor, into a single tool for efficient solo work.
Can the Installation Helper be used to hang boards on walls?
Yes, when using the T&G Installation Helper to hang boards on the walls, the short end of the tool will face the wall and the long end will face the installer. Place a tongue and groove board onto a board that is already secured to the studs, place the T&G Installation Helper in between the studs and "clamp" the two boards together. This will secure the board in place while being hands free which then allows you to secure and nail the board in place. Continue to repeat this process until finished.
Is your tool Made in The USA?
Yes, we are proud to have the T&G Installation Helper 100% Made in the USA.

We've heard the tool referred to as a TAG, what is that?
It's just short for Tongue & Groove. During the product testing phase, while out in the field doing real world testing, several crews on the jobsites just started referring to it as a "TAG" (TAGH) and it stuck.
Why is the T&G Installation Helper just coming to market?
The T&G Installation Helper was designed by a contractor to solve a specific jobsite problem, installing tongue and groove boards accurately without a helper. It was refined through real-world use and field testing before being released. As a purpose-built tool from an independent manufacturer, it isn’t a mass-market product, but it delivers a practical solution that's needed in the industry. It's not only for Contractors or Handymen, but for DIY individuals that want to get a project done on their own without having to call on others to help get it done.
Can I use more than one TAG tool while hanging boards?
Yes, In some builds it may be beneficial to the installer to utilize two (TAGH) tools while installing the tongue and groove boards. This all depends on the installers skill and needs for the job.
Why doesn't your company sell Internationally?
We currently hold a U.S. Patent Pending, so we have opted to keep our sales limited to the domestic market at this time.

Can this tool be used with Shiplap, Nickel Gap and V-Groove boards?
Yes, but some building designs need to be kept in mind, smaller then 16' length boards may need to be used, or multiple T&G Installation Helpers tools may also be required to hold the weight of the boards. Overall, the design and the type of boards used need to be kept in mind while using the tool to assist in the building of your project. The boards have to be placed onto exposed wall studs or ceiling rafters where there is a open space between the wall studs or ceiling rafters, insulation does not prohibit the use of the tool. It will not work on existing flat surfaces where the planks will be placed directly onto that flat surface. This is due to the design of the tool which is placed in between the studs or rafters and secures and clamps the boards together while the installer nails them to the studs or rafters. Also, the boards need to be a maximum of 7" in width or smaller.
Why Most Installers Haven’t Seen a Tool Like This
The construction industry values reliability and proven methods—and for good reason. But that same mindset can slow the adoption of new tools, especially when certain frustrations have been accepted as “part of the job.”
Most installers don’t actively search for tools to solve problems they believe are unavoidable. They adapt instead. Over time, those workarounds become routine, even when they cost time, energy, and precision.
That’s why the reaction is almost always the same when this tool is seen in use:
“I didn’t know something like this existed.”
Once installers use it on jobsites:
Boards stay aligned
Solo installs become practical
Fatigue and frustration are reduced
The question quickly shifts from “Why would I need this?” to “Why wasn’t this around sooner?”
